The NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety is a level 3 qualification, equivalent to an A-Level. The NEBOSH Fire Certificate is accredited by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). Upon successful completion of the course, learners are entitled to Associate Membership of the International Institute of Risk and Safety (AIIRSM).
The NEBOSH Fire Certificate is not a mandatory qualification for those looking to work within the fire safety sector. However, the course benefits learners in many ways, allowing them to learn about fire safety techniques and giving them the practical knowledge to impact safety culture and keep their workplace safe from fire-related hazards.

The course is ideal for Facilities Managers, Health and Safety Managers, or anyone responsible for workplace fire safety.
One of the many benefits that the NEBOSH Fire Certificate offers businesses is having in-house fire experts within the workplace. These staff members will be able to improve fire safety standards and carry out fire risk assessments. This will help mitigate the risk of severe business losses resulting from fire.
There isn't only one person responsible for fire safety in the workplace. Fire safety should be seen as a shared responsibility amongst both employees and employers, with each group's role equally important.

In the UK, employers must abide by certain laws related to fire safety such as the Fire Safety Order 2005. Employees are just as important when it comes to fire safety at work.

Your business will benefit from having more employees trained in fire safety, ensuring more staff members can recognise fire risks, hazards and safety protocols.

For more information about fire safety in the workplace, take a look at our blog.
There are 5 key steps within a fire safety risk assessment.
      1. Identify the hazards.
      2. Identify people at risk.
      3. Evaluate, reduce, remove and protect from risk.
      4. Record, plan, inform, instruct and train.
      5. Review the risk assessment process.
